Purchase of wheat from 3,99,935 farmers

The process of wheat procurement is going on in Uttar Pradesh due to the Corona period by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. So far, 20.50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been procured. This purchase has been done from around 3,99,935 farmers at the minimum support price. In Uttar Pradesh, the responsibility of making this purchase was entrusted to 11 agencies by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Out of these 11 agencies, 7 agencies have operated purchasing centers. About 3252 purchasing centers are operated by the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Union. From which about 9 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. So far, 5612 purchasing centers have been set up in Uttar Pradesh by the government.

With this, 110 wheat procurement centers have been set up in 48 districts by the State Agricultural Produce Market Council. The minimum support price at these centers has been fixed at the rate of Rs. 1975 per quintal. Due to which 46982 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured. Under this scheme, payment of Rs 92.78 crore to 8523 farmers has also been made on wheat procurement.

On 29 January 2021, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji has given instructions to start buying wheat. This wheat purchase will be started from April 1, 2021 . Under wheat procurement, farmers will not face any problem at any purchasing center. All arrangements will be made for the safety of wheat in storage godowns and purchasing centers. This year, the minimum support price for wheat has been increased by ₹ 50. Now the minimum support price of wheat has been increased to ₹ 1975 per quintal. A meeting was held by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh regarding wheat procurement 2021-2022 with the officials of the timetable and the proposed purchasing policy .
